Short but informative. It doesn't bore with scientific details of how the infection operates. Instead it focuses on how it affected the population with its spread and intensity. There are quotes from writers of the time and descriptions of what the people did and went through. The amount of death was awe inspiring, and not in a good way. It was fascinating.

I'll admit that I have dark tastes, but even still the constant tone of the book was that of hope.
