3 Concerts beginning 7pm at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl
Summer in the city means outdoor musical bliss, with the MSO’s Sidney Myer Free Concerts, presented in association with the University of Melbourne. These events bring great classics and great artists together in Australia’s favourite outdoor space for music.

Westlake/Lior – Songs of Compassion
The World Premiere of Nigel Westlake’s Missa Solis – Requiem for Eli at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl was a landmark musical event of 2011. Now Westlake in partnership with singer/songwriter Lior, returns for the Bowl for the first Melbourne performance of the new work they have created together

Free pre-concert entertainment from 5pm: Russian favourites played by Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra.
Hailed as a rising star by BBC Music Magazine, Andrew Gourlay conducts this exciting all-Russian program. Melbourne’s own Caroline Almonte is soloist in the concerto everyone knows from the iconic film Shine as “the Rach 3”.
